Mac & Mooney's: My Thoughts

Last month a new place to eat opened in Athens, PA. Mooney's is a small chain of restaurants throughout NY and PA that is well-known for one menu item in particular: their Mac & Cheese.

On Monday night I stopped into Mooney's to check the place out. Unfortunately, my cell phone has decided to continue its habit of deleting pictures, but the above image of their mac & cheese is legit. It looks so beautiful, and the portion sizes are huge.

I ordered a small bowl of the original mac & cheese to try. Though my personal opinion was that the dish was too plain, I was informed by the employee that the other varieties of Mac & Cheese were a lot more exciting. For that reason, I plan on going back to give them another try. And hopefully, I will be able to retake the pictures I lost to include in a follow-up to this post.

As for the location itself, it has an awesome atmosphere. Wooden tables, nicely lit (restaurants with dim lighting give me bad vibes; I like to easily see what I am about to eat). The service was amazing as well, extremely polite and knowledgable of the offerings. I did make unfortunate eye-contact with the deer head on the wall, however, though that was mostly my fault. The deer couldn't look away.

Overall it was a very nice experience, and I encourage you all to give it a try.
